Got Yer Goat

Indie and I started playing new "Find It" games on Sunday with a work glove. Silly boy would find it like a champ unless it was in certain locations, and I think he was trying to hard to see it with his eyes. The good thing is that I could put him in a stay in a hallway and he'd actually stay there until I 'hid' the glove (really just in the middle of the floor) and released him, then he'd tear off excitedly to find it. Good boy! Now to teach him to use his nose. The good thing with Indie is that once he gets how the game is played, he throws himself into it, so it won't take long.

We have a new meat selection for Katie now: goat. It's agreeing with her. I tried it, and I can't say I'm a fan, but she's thrilled. We had to take her off the chicken because it was giving her bad poopie (the kind where she Has To Go at 3AM), and she's allergic to beef, pork, venison, and one of the other common ones. We were trying to find lamb but weren't finding any cheap cuts, so goat it was. It certainly makes for interesting conversation.

A Toast to Ebby

Ebony has officially been with us now for one year and one day. We brought her home the day before Earth Day last year.

Happy Anniversary, Ebby!

No Stick!

I've been working from home today, and darling Inigo has been making me crazy. (Yes, it's Inigo when he's exasperating. I make an effort to call him by his whole name when he's being sweet too, but there's some law of physics that causes you to use full names when annoyed.) It's been raining on and off, and that hasn't stopped him from coming in and out and in and out the back door. I stuck him out more than I let him in because he is not grasping the concept that he may not bring his stick in to dessicate on the living room carpet. I had to shut him in his pen for a little while this afternoon because of constant whining and bristling at the door. As he would have been locked up all day anyway in normal circumstances, I did not feel the least bit guilty.

Whatta Dog

Keeping Indie down since the neuter has been a real challenge. He was barely even sluggish when he came home that first night, and we're supposed to keep him calm for 7-10 days. Somehow we've made it to Day 5. The biggest challenge has been keeping him and Ebby from wrestling, especially since she likes to bite his underside. His incision still looks great though, so I think we've made it through the hard part.

I've recently realized that he might think his name is Puppy.

Bye-bye, Babies

Indie gets the big snip-snip today. He's exactly 7 months old. Poor puppy.

We keep calling him The Puppy, but he's big enough now that we get strange looks from passersby when we do so. He weighed in this morning at 68 pounds. Ebony is 69. I went away to Oklahoma the weekend before last and when I came back, he was a little Big Dog instead of a big Little Dog. He even has a big dog head now. Where's my baby!
